Emanuel Gat Dance: SACRE | WORKS | FLOW3
SACRE is a revisited version of Gat’s 2004 piece set to Stravinsky's eponymous score “The Rite of Spring.” A work for three women and two men, SACRE deconstructs the mechanics of Cuban salsa dancing, and reassembles them to create a complex and dramaturgically charged choreographic score. A free spirited and challenging reading of Stravinsky's masterpiece, SACRE offers no notions of sacrifice, but rather a multitude of options for action.
WORKS celebrates the uniqueness, virtuosity, fearlessness and humanity of dancers. Ten dancers share the stage in a series of three short works, in various constellations, musical environments and choreographies. WORKS is a reaction to the changing times, and to the constant evolution of the manner in which dance, and art in general, is produced. It is an attempt to explore new models of artistic production, to question old boundaries and hierarchies, and explore models of inclusiveness and support.
